Terms of service.
These terms govern access to and use of Gotham by Indian law firms, in-house teams and verified law students. They sit alongside, and are referenced by, every Master Services Agreement (MSA) we sign.

Acceptance
By signing in to Gotham, requesting access, or using any part of the platform, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you are accessing Gotham on behalf of a firm or organisation, you confirm that you have authority to bind that entity.
Eligibility
Gotham is offered to (a) Indian law firms, in-house legal teams and chambers, and (b) law students at recognised Indian institutions who have completed .ac.in verification under the Gotham for Law Students programme.
You must be at least 18 years old to hold a Gotham account. The platform is not designed for, and must not be used to provide, services to consumers in personal matters without a supervising advocate.
Acceptable use
You may use Gotham for bona fide legal work, research, drafting, diligence and matter management. You may not:
- Scrape, mirror, or attempt to extract the underlying corpus, prompts, embeddings or model weights.
- Resell, sublicense or white-label Gotham to third parties without a written reseller agreement.
- Use Gotham outputs as final legal advice without review and adoption by a qualified advocate enrolled with a State Bar Council.
- Submit data you are not lawfully entitled to process, or use the platform to violate the Bar Council of India Rules, the Advocates Act, 1961, or any applicable law.
Model outputs disclaimer
Gotham generates draft work-product using AI models (including third-party models from providers such as Anthropic Claude and Google Gemini, and Gotham's own fine-tunes). Outputs are drafts for an advocate's review, not final legal advice.
The responsible advocate of record remains solely accountable for the advice given, pleadings filed and contracts executed. No attorney-client relationship is formed with Gotham Technologies Pvt. Ltd. by virtue of using the platform.
Confidentiality
Each party will treat the other's confidential information with at least the standard of care it applies to its own, and not less than a reasonable standard. This obligation is mutual and survives termination.
Gotham relies on a limited set of subprocessors to operate the platform. The current list, with purpose and region, is published at /security#subprocessors. We will notify customers in advance of any material change.
Fees and billing
Fees, billing cycle, true-up rules and any usage limits are set out in your firm's MSA or order form. Where the MSA is silent, our then-current published pricing applies. All fees are exclusive of GST and other applicable taxes, which will be charged at prevailing rates.
Gotham for Law Students is offered free of charge to verified students; misuse or commercial use will result in suspension.
Termination
Either party may terminate per the notice provisions in the MSA. Either party may terminate immediately for material breach that is not cured within 30 days of written notice, or on insolvency or analogous events.
On termination, your data is handled per Section 4 (Retention) of our Privacy policy and the MSA.
Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts at Bengaluru, Karnataka have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or in connection with these terms or your use of Gotham, subject to any arbitration clause in the applicable MSA.
