An agentic citator for Indian law

India is the most complicated jurisdiction to get right. Gotham's legal ontology records each holding, bench and statute version. Its agents read every later judgment that cites a case and show, point by point and with the passage, whether it was followed, distinguished, doubted or overruled.

Indian law is built in

Gotham includes 365 million Indian legal documents from the Supreme Court, all 25 High Courts, tribunals and regulators, with citations to the paragraph. Thomson Reuters does not publish Indian coverage for CoCounsel.

Your data stays in India

Gotham stores Indian customers' data in India. Thomson Reuters does not publish data regions for CoCounsel.

Indian court work end to end

Draft in the court's format, track cases by CNR, keep a hearing diary, then stamp, sign and file, in the same workspace as your research.

What CoCounsel does well

Westlaw and Practical Law

CoCounsel reasons from Westlaw primary law with KeyCite and Key Numbers, and from Practical Law guidance written by more than 650 attorney-editors. For US and UK research, this content is hard to match.

Checks on cited authority

Deep Research Verify checks whether a cited Westlaw or Practical Law authority supports a specific statement, and Brief Builder validates authority as it drafts.

Microsoft 365

CoCounsel works inside Word, Outlook and Teams, with iManage, SharePoint and other systems.

How to test both fairly

  1. Pick one real, bounded piece of work, not a demo question.
  2. Give both products the same documents and the same question.
  3. Agree beforehand what a good answer needs: the right authorities, pinpoint citations, the right format.
  4. Have a qualified lawyer check every answer against the source.
  5. Time the corrections, not just the first draft.
  6. Check permissions, data deletion, exports and audit logs as well as output quality.

Include an Indian research question that needs Supreme Court and High Court authority, and a US or UK question if you have cross-border work, so you see each tool where it is strongest.
